Am I the only one overly excited for summer? The thought of the sun out all day, seeing the greenest grass we see all year, and the overall warm weather makes me so happy. I mean apart from the bugs, bees and all that good stuff, I cannot be more thrilled for summer. I just want to be able to go out without the worry of it raining, snowing.. hailing. Or even just stay home, with windows open, fresh summer breeze, watching movies all day or just sleeping. I actually really want to travel this summer, even if it is just for a couple days. It doesn’t have to be anywhere far; I just want to get away from my usual routine. I want to leave the city, area, people and go to a place where I don’t know anything or anyone. I want to escape for a bit before I have to go back and continue the same routine again, you get me?
Another reason for spending the summer well is that I will be graduating high school in June and will start university in September; well I mean that’s the plan. With all this comes a large mix of emotions, excitement, nerves and all that. So why not shake it all off and have a little fun in between?
If I could sum up one of my life goals in 3 words it would be to ‘travel the world’. As cliché as that sounds it is actually one of my biggest dreams. I love to venture and most importantly I love the journey. What good is the destination without the eager and lingering journey? We all live in our hometown where we were most likely born, grew up and got educated, and where we continue to build our future. What we fail to realize is that this is just a small piece of this huge world we live in. There is so much out there for us to experience and be a part of. The world has so much more to offer. I’ve always wanted to experience cultures that are very different from mine, and see places that I’ve never seen before. I’ve been in Canada, more specifically Ontario all my life. It is wonderful here so I’m not complaining, but I’ve seen it all. I want to see new places. Everything is so beautiful to see in pictures, but imagine actually being inside that picture and being a part of it all. Imagine how breathtaking that would be.
Some places that I would be most excited to travel are (in order): Mecca, Saudi Arabia; Dubai, UAE; Sharm el-sheikh, Egypt; Cape Town, South Africa; Casablanca, Morocco; Barcelona, Spain; Salvador, Brazil; Mumbai, India; Seoul, Korea; Venice, Italy; Agra, India; Cancun, Mexico. These are just to name a few, because I have a very long list. Everyplace I listed is very unique to each other, and their culture, society, traditions, as well as the overall environment are very different from that of my own. The pictures of these places you can hold in your hand (or save on your computer via Google images), but the actual experience is one to embrace in your heart forever. It would be life changing to travel and see all these places, and touch all the wonders of the world that you see in the pictures with your own hands. It would just be astonishing & overwhelming. One day, just one day…
